NEW TOWNHOUSES ON FRANK S. BROWN BLVD. TO BRING BACK THE SPIRIT OF HOMEOWNERSHIP IN STEELTON

MEDIA ADVISORY

After years of planning and collaboration, 12 three-bedroom townhouse units will be built in two phases on Frank S. Brown Boulevard (formerly known as Adams Street) in Steelton. The homes will be affordable, energy-efficient, and sold to those who meet income guidelines. The first phase-six townhouse units-is slated for completion in the spring of 2020.

Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries, and George Hartwick, Ill (formerly Steelton’s mayor) will be on hand to celebrate the project, along with Rep. Patty Kim, a representative of the PA Housing Finance Agency, and Steelton Borough Council.

Project leader and sponsor is Gary Lenker of the nonprofit Tri-County Housing Development Corporation, working with the Borough of Steelton and the Dauphin County Redevelopment Authority. Steelton leaders, hoping to promote homeownership in a borough where a full half of its properties are rented, not owned, donated more than $1 million in sitework and infrastructure. Steelton also offers a tax incentive to new and existing homeowners to make improvements to their deteriorating properties (under the 2017 Improvement to Deteriorating Real Property Tax Exemption Act).

The media is cordially invited to attend the ground-breaking.
