Tri-County Housing’s 10th Annual Golf Outing Raises More than $55,000 for Affordable Housing in the Midstate

Housing Partner Woda Cooper Companies Honored

HARRISBURG, September 1, 2025  —Under hazy skies and perfect temperatures, Tri-County Housing hosted its 10th annual charity golf outing at Sportsman’s Golf Course in Susquehanna Twp. on Aug. 19, attracting a record turnout of supporters, sponsors and community leaders. The event not only provided a day of camaraderie and friendly competition on the fairways but raised more than $55,000 to support affordable housing for low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties.

More than 130 golfers participated in the outing, including Cumberland County Commissioners Jean Foschi and Kelly Neiderer. WHTM-TV 27 documented the day’s opening ceremonies and the recognition of partner Woda Cooper Companies as “Housing Advocate of the Year.” Woda Cooper Companies was honored for their partnership with a new 48-unit affordable rental housing community in Shippensburg.

“Golf outings not only bring people together for an enjoyable day on the greens; they raise visibility and support for a larger cause,” said Tri-County’s Executive Director Gary Lenker.  “Now celebrating a full decade of great golf and community-building, this event always gives us the opportunity to come together as advocates with a shared mission to raise much-needed funds for our vital programs, build more affordable housing and strengthen relationships within our community.”

This year’s fundraising total of $55,000 surpassed last year’s outing by more than $10,000, marking one of the nonprofit’s most successful golf outings to date.

“These dollars will help us serve more families and give the gift of homeownership to more neighbors in need,” Lenker said.  “We’re grateful to everyone who contributed—whether they played, volunteered, or sponsored. Because of them, we have expanded our impact.”

Major sponsors for the outing included Swartz Kitchens, Couch Potato Flooring, Mid Penn Bank, M & T Bank, and FNB, along with hole sponsors, raffle prize donors, and silent auction contributors.

The post-tournament awards dinner featured heartfelt remarks, a buffet meal, and recognition of the outing’s winners. The winning team of xxxx took home the top prize, while xxx claimed the longest drive contest and xxx won the closest to the pin challenge.

Raffle and silent auction items—ranging from golf packages and sports memorabilia to gift certificates and local experiences— added more dollars to the fundraising total.

The annual golf outing has become one of Tri-County Housing’s signature events, both as a fundraiser and a community tradition. Plans are already underway for next year’s event.

Tri-County Housing was recently named “Nonprofit of the Year” for 2025 by the readers of Harrisburg Magazine and has garnered numerous Pyramid Awards from the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg over the years.
