Tri-County Housing’s Golf Outing Sets Record for Funds Raised and Golfers Participating

(HARRISBURG) Aug. 18, 2023 –The tallies are in-and it’s a record-setting year!

The eighth annual golf outing of Tri-County Housing (formerly Tri-County Housing Development Corporation) raised a record-high $46,000 and attracted 136 golfers -the largest crowd number ever-to help the nonprofit bolster their efforts to assist those in need of housing.

Held at Sportsman’s Golf Course in Susquehanna Twp. on Aug. 15, Robin Wiessmann, Executive Director and CEO of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, who also served as state Treasurer and Secretary of Banking, was honored as the “2023 Housing Advocate of the Year.”

Tri-County Housing’s Executive Director Gary Lenker said, “We thank our golfers and our generous sponsors for our biggest and best event to date, supporting the cause of affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, blight remediation and first-time homebuyer assistance. We also thank Director Wiessmann for joining us and leading initiatives across the state that build upon housing with a heart.”

WHO WE ARE: Tri-County Housing was formerly Tri-County Housing Development Corporation (TCHDC). Tri-County/TCHDC has served Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry Counties/or 33 years. Since 1990, they have developed or rehabilitated more than 800 units of affordable housing, for both rent and purchase. They specialize in rehabilitation and redevelopment projects as well as new home construction. Tri-County rehabilitates abandoned and blighted properties in the City of Harrisburg and throughout Dauphin and Cumberland Counties. In addition, they are a HUD-certified Homebuyer Counseling Agency that provides a monthly eight-hour course to first-time homebuyers. Recent successful projects include affordable homes for sale in the South Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg, on both Hummel Street and Swatara Street, along with properties on Frank S. Brown Boulevard in Steelton Borough and East South Street in Carlisle.
